I would consider myself as very active with the Scouts movement. I did not even stop scouting after schooling as I also helped out with Sek Menengah Batu Buruk (now SMK Sri Budiman) scouts movement when I was teaching there as attachment teacher after my HSC and again when I was doing my practical training a few years later for my Diploma in Education (or Diploma Science with Education [UPM] rather).
SS scouts troop is known as the 1st Kuala Trengganu (Terengganu) Troop. Regular scouting activities during our weekly meeting at the scout den, campfires and of course going camping were all so memorable.
The ultimate achievement for my scouting days was of course getting the “Pengakap Raja” (King’s Scout) certificate from the King (Sultan Kelantan then). I was the only one representing the five from SS to be at the Istana Negara – which was given a couple of years delayed from the date we were actually awarded the King’s Scout.
Hopefully in this series of several postings, I shall be sharing some photos of our activities of the 1st Kuala Trengganu Troop.
Below is the one taken during our Patrol Leader and Assistance Patrol Leader camping at the Chendering beach in 1972 with our scout teacher (or Scout Master) Cikgu Mohd Sani Rahmat.
